Waziri Mkuu wa India aiga wazo la Rais Magufuli na kulitekeleza

Wakati Rais John Magufuli alitishia kubadili fedha za Tanzania katika juhudi za kuwadhibiti watu wanaodaiwa kuficha fedha, Waziri Mkuu wa India, Narendra Modi ametangaza kuziondoa kwenye mzunguko noti za Rupia 500 na 1,000.

Akizungumza katika mkutano wa 14 wa mwaka wa wahandisi uliofanyika Septemba Mosi katika Ukumbi wa Mlimani City, Rais Magufuli alisema kwa mamlaka aliyonayo anaweza kuamua kubadili fedha ili zile zinazofichwa, watu hao wakose mahali pa kuzipeleka.

Alisisitiza kwa kusema kauli hiyo ni mahsusi kwa watu walioficha fedha katika majumba yao na kuwataka kuacha tabia hiyo mara moja ili fedha hizo ziingie katika mzunguko.

Rais Magufuli alisema katika utawala wake fedha za bure hazitakuwapo kwa sababu zilizokuwapo awali zilitokana na fedha za wizi kutoka serikalini ambazo kwa sasa zimedhibitiwa.

Alisema kwa mwendo anaokwenda nao sasa ni ngumu kwa mwananchi kupata fedha bila kufanya kazi.

Habari kutoka India zinasema Waziri Mkuu Modi alitangaza hatua hiyo ya kushangaza kwenye runinga Jumanne usiku kuwa ni mojawapo ya harakati za kukabiliana na ufisadi na ukopeshaji wa fedha haramu.

Modi alisema noti zote za Rupia 500 na 1,000 “hazitakuwa fedha halali kuanzia usiku wa manane leo” na kwamba “zitabaki kuwa makaratasi yasiyo na maana.” 

Hata hivyo, alisema noti nyingine za Rupia 100, Rupia 50, Rupia 20, Rupia 10, Rupia 5, Rupia 2 na sarafu zote zitaendelea kuwa na thamani.

“Ulanguzi wa fedha na ufisadi ndiyo vikwazo vikuu katika kukabiliana na umasikini,” alisema Modi na kuongeza: “Watu wataweza kubadilisha noti zao za zamani na mpya katika benki kuanzia Novemba 10 hadi Desemba 30 na kwamba fedha hizo hazitatumika tena.”

Benki zilifungwa jana huku huduma za mashine za kutoa pesa za ATM zikisitishwa. Badala yake noti mpya za Rupia 500 na 2,000 zitawekwa katika mfumo wa fedha kuchukua nafasi ya zilizoondolewa.

Tangazo hilo lilisababisha mtafaruku kwenye vituo vya mafuta na maeneo mengine ya biashara kwani wauzaji wa rejareja walikuwa wakikataa kupokea noti hizo huku mashine za kutolea fedha zikifungwa. Katika viwango vya ubadilishaji fedha noti ya Rupia 500 ni sawa na Sh16,000 na Rupia 1,000 ni sawa na Sh32,000.

Wateja watakuwa na uwezo wa kubadili noti hizo ili wapewe mpya au kuziweka kwenye akaunti, lakini watatakiwa kujieleza mamlaka ya mapato walivyozipata.

Kufuatia kutangazwa kwa Donald Trump kuwa Rais mteule wa Marekani, wananchi wa Marekani wameandamana katika miji saba kupinga ushindi huo wa Trump.

Waandamanaji hao wamekusanyika nje ya mnara maarufu wa Trump ‘ Trump Tower’  mjini New York wakipaza sauti za kumpinga Trump. Wengine walionekana nje ya Ikulu ya Marekani wakipaza sauti kuwa “Not my president” (Si Rais wangu), pamoja na mabango mengine.

Wengi wa waandamanaji walioongea na CNN wameelezea kuwa wana wasiwasi sana kuhusu Trump kwavile kuongoza Marekani sio kama kuiongoza nchi yoyote duniani.

“Kwa matokeo haya tumeiangusha Dunia. Trump hakustahili kuwa Rais. Nahisi watu walipiga kura kwa hasira lakini Trump ni hatari kwa dunia,” alisema mmoja wa waandamanaji aliyejitambulisha kwa jina la James Betwell kutoka Califonia.

Ronaldo agrees new five-years contract with Real Madrid

MADRID, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to extend his contract with Real Madrid until 2021, the European champions confirmed on Sunday.
Ronaldo, Real's all-time top scorer with 371 goals in 360 games, will sign the new deal on Monday at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium before giving a news conference.
Ronaldo is reported to be in line for an increase on his current salary, estimated to be 21 million euros ($23 million), making him the highest-paid player at Real Madrid.

The Portuguese has collected one La Liga title, two King's Cups and two Champions League titles since joining Real from Manchester United in 2008 for a then world record 96 million euros but has had an inconsistent start to the current campaign.
The forward failed to hit the target in a near anonymous display in Real's 3-0 win over Leganes on Sunday to mark five games without scoring at the Bernabeu, his longest run without a goal in front of Real's fans since he joined the club.
Ronaldo's last goal at the Bernabeu came against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Sept. 14. His only goal there in the league was against Osasuna on Sept. 10.
Ronaldo has scored seven goals in the league and Champions League this term and made amends for his worst start to a season since joining Real by hitting a hat-trick in last week's 4-2 win away to Alaves.
The 31-year-old missed a series of chances against Legia Warsaw on Wednesday, however, and was seen venting his fury at Bale for not passing to him in the second half against Leganes.
"Nothing is up with Cristiano, we always want him to score and at Alaves he scored three and that's that," said Zidane.
"He always wants to score but it doesn't matter if he doesn't once in a while. I think he's playing well, working hard for the team. He obviously always wants to score but I think he's relaxed about it."
Despite the player's current inconsistency, Zidane expressed his delight at Ronaldo extending his stay at the club.
"I'm happy because he's the type of player who deserves to finish his career at Real Madrid," said Zidane, who saw out his playing days at the Bernabeu and was infamously sent off for France in the 2006 World Cup final in his last ever game.

S. Korea scandal widens as presidential aides arrested

South Korean prosecutors arrested two former top presidential aides Sunday in a snowballing influence-peddling scandal which has seen tens of thousands of people take to the streets to demand President Park Geun-Hye resign.

Park's approval ratings have hit a historic low of five percent -- a record for a sitting president -- over the scandal involving her close friend Choi Soon-Sil.

Choi has been arrested for fraud and also stands accused of meddling in state affairs -- including government appointments and policy decisions -- despite holding no official position.

Ahn Jong-beom, a former senior advisor to Park, was formally arrested early Sunday on charges of abuse of power and attempted coercion, the Yonhap news agency reported.

He is suspected of helping Choi collect millions of dollars in donations from conglomerates like Samsung to two dubious non-profit foundations which Choi set up and allegedly used for personal gain.

Ahn, who has been in custody since Wednesday after stepping down late last month said he would "take responsibility" for failing to properly advise the president, Yonhap reported.

Prosecutors also arrested Jeong Ho-Seong, another former presidential aide, over allegations that he leaked classified information.

The 47-year-old Jeong, who was known as Park's right hand man and has assisted her since 1998, is suspected of passing presidential speeches and official documents to Choi.

Park has been scrambling to restore trust in her administration amid the deepening crisis, reshuffling ministers and senior advisers to bring in figures from outside her ruling conservative Saenuri Party.

But the reshuffle has done little to assuage public anger, with tens of thousands of protesters rallying to demand her resignation in a candlelight demonstration on Saturday.

Police said around 50,000 people had turned out for the rally -- more than double the size of a similar anti-Park protest the week before. Organisers said the number was closer to 200,000.

Han Gwang-Ok, Park's new chief of staff who was appointed last week, said Saturday's protest reflected the gravity of the current situation.

"All senior secretaries must fully cooperate in uncovering the truth beyond any doubt," Han said during a meeting with the presidential secretaries on Sunday.

In a televised address Friday, Park agreed to be questioned by prosecutors, and sought to portray herself as an over-trusting friend who had let her guard down at a moment of weakness.

Her voice choking with emotion, Park said she had been living a "lonely life" as president and had turned to Choi for company and help.

The South Korean media has portrayed Choi, whose late father was a shadowy religious leader and an important mentor to Park, as a Rasputin-like figure who wielded an unhealthy influence over the president.

Choi is the daughter of late religious leader Choi Tae-Min, who was married six times, had multiple pseudonyms and set up his own cult-like group known as the Church of Eternal Life.

Park has been forced to deny that she fell for a religious cult or allowed shamanist rituals to be performed in the presidential Blue House.

Despite the mass protests, Park is not expected to resign with just over a year of her single term in office left.

Whatever transpires, the very personal nature of the scandal has severely undermined Park's ability to govern, turning her into the lamest of lame-duck leaders at a time of slowing economic growth, rising unemployment and elevated military tensions with North Korea.
